Mruga Kirloskar

With a background in BHSc Textiles and Clothing Design from SNDT University, Fashion Design from NIFT Delhi, and a Diploma in Apparel Production Management from the School of Fashion Technology, Pune, it comes as no surprise that our founder, Mruga Kirloskar, has a deep-rooted love for fashion and design.

Yet, above all, her greatest passion lies in India’s rich heritage of handwoven textiles, with a particular love for the timeless artistry of the Maharashtrian Paithani.

She believes our textiles are more than beautiful heirlooms; they are a legacy entrusted to us, and one we have a responsibility to preserve, appreciate and pass on to future generations.

For over a decade, Mruga has been designing and curating Paithani collections, bringing fresh perspectives to the traditional weave through thoughtful design, colour and detail, while remaining deeply rooted in its rich heritage.

At the heart of her work is a simple belief: that tradition need not remain in the past. It can evolve, be celebrated anew, and continue to find a place in the lives of generations to come.

Nikita Kirloskar Mohite

With a background in International Business and a love for design, Nikita brings together her creative and business sensibilities at Paithanis by Mruga Kirloskar. She works across marketing, social media and design, helping shape the brand’s voice and visual identity.


Over the years, her work with the brand has led to a newfound appreciation for handlooms and the artistry behind them. What started as a role has grown into a genuine love for the craft, the people behind it and the stories woven into every Paithani.
